Becoming a Yoga Teacher and going through Yoga Teacher Training can be a life-changing journey and a wonderful, enriching experience for anyone interested in deepening their practice and self-development... all while preparing you to teach and share the practice and benefits of yoga with others. Under the direct guidance of Jenny Otto, Body Balance Yoga Teacher Trainings are world-class trainings that will give you the tools, the hands-on experience and the confidence you need to teach well. A master yoga teacher trainer, Jenny has trained hundreds of teachers across the U.S. She is an innovative, master yoga teacher who has dedicated her life's work to the development of yoga students and teachers alike. Her trainings are innovative, inspiring and will set you apart as a yoga teacher.
Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training is designed both for those who interested in teaching yoga and for those wanting to deepen their understanding and practice of yoga but may not necessarily be interested in becoming an instructor. Our Teacher Training program will prepare students to teach beginning and intermediate level Hatha Yoga classes. This training is a quality, comprehensive training that includes studying the essence of classical yoga practices and theories with additional apprenticeship opportunities for those interested in teaching. It will give you in-depth training will leave you with invaluable tools for self-discovery and transformation while you gain the skills you need to lead a classroom with confidence, knowledge and authenticity. Each weekend will include training in asana technique, anatomical awareness, philosophy, and teaching methodology. You will apply this knowledge throughout the program by practice teaching, building sequences, and receiving feedback.

Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training consists of 9 weekends in a flexible one-weekend-a-month format which enables participants to travel from further distances to attend. Each weekend training generally includes excellent handouts and materials, lectures, film/video clips, presentation materials, yoga practice, asana sequences and partner or small group work. Lunch or dinner breaks of approximately 1 hour will be given each day. Between each session, students are given assignments.
Requirements for Graduation
- Attendance is MANDATORY for all weekends, both days.
- Complete Required Reading and all homework assignments given for each weekend.
- Keep a personal journal for asana practice, meditation, thoughts, etc.
- Apprentice with primary faculty for 24 hours
- Teach one free community class toward the end of your training, where faculty observes and evaluates.
- Upon successful completion of all requirements, graduates will receive a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate and will be eligible to apply for the RYT200 registration with Yoga Alliance.
Our primary faculty is Jenny Otto and Amy Nusbaum, RN, E-RYT200, Certified BBY Teacher, IFPA Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutritional Counselor. Our faculty also includes many accomplished BODY BALANCE YOGA TEACHERS who teach several of our special programs and training modules: Melinda Frisch, Linda Howard, Janelle Jones, Sandy Moore, Lorna Nafzinger, Gina Sager.
Body Balance Yoga is unique in that it honors the richness of all yogic lineages and draws on multiple teachers from many traditions, disciplines and perspectives to expand our student's horizons. Other renowned teachers are often invited to teach in their specialty at our trainings and workshops. Visiting GUEST TEACHERS IN THE PAST have included: Stan Andrzejewski, Mary Bond, Manoj Chalam, Rixie Dennison, Arthur Kilmurray, Judy Lazarus, Natalie Miller, Matthew Remski, Olga Rodriguez Rasmussen.
A limited class size will ensure that each student receives individualized support and attention.
