Principles that Inform the Body Balance Yoga® Teacher
- A Body Balance Yoga® (BBY) teacher embodies sincerity and compassion, and maintains the understanding that remembers wholeness of the human spirit.
- Teachers of Body Balance Yoga® possess the ability to positively affect every student's life with skillful conscious instruction and guidance.
- Body Balance Yoga® teachers are committed to communicating the essence of yoga, to serving and look for the good in all things, within themselves and their students.
- Professionally trained, our teachers know all the variations of the basic poses and more. Poses have been creatively developed to allow each student express the essence of the human spirit.
- Guides or mentors for self-discovery.
- Creates a safe learning environment by being present.
- Seeks inner guidance in all endeavors.
- Dedication, Service, Discipline.
- Intention, Persistence, Repetition of Movement.

Requirements:
- Be registered as an RYT 500, or equivalent.
- Must have completed 100 hours of BBY training.
- Demonstrate a dedication to higher learning and continuing education.
- Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the Universal Principles of Alignment, and an understanding of myofascial chains of movement.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the nervous system and the effects of pranayama, meditation and asana on said system.
- Be able to effectively observe and read students' alignment and give the proper assistance.
- Demonstrate clear and precise verbal and physical instructions.
- Possess a teaching style that is authentic and a commitment to serving.
- Demonstrate the ability to present a well-designed asana sequence that opens and supports the body, mind & spirit.
To apply:
Submit an application for the Body Balance Yoga® Program. Submit a copy of your Yoga Alliance RYT 500 Hour card.
A non-refundable fee of $100.00 is required with the application.
Students currently enrolled in a Registered Yoga Alliance 500 Hour program are eligible to apply but certification will only be rewarded after proof of completion and evaluation. Golden Heart Yoga offers a Registered Yoga Alliance 500 Hour program including the Body Balance Yoga® Therapy studies.
Evaluation for Certification:
If the Applicant meets the requirements described above, he or she is eligible to be evaluated for certification.
Applicant will be observed during classes or workshops on the requirements listed above. When the applicant meets and demonstrates successfully the requirements, he or she will be eligible for certification. This process is not about judgment. Observation and critique are necessary for the growth of the student as well as the assessors.
A written test or video may or may not be required.
Continuing Education:
In order to maintain your certification status, you must maintain Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) status through Yoga Alliance and complete a minimum of 8 classroom hours with Jenny or another Body Balance Yoga® Certified Teacher every 12 months.

Ethical guidelines:
- Show humility and admit to your limitations.
- Verbally honor and pay tribute to your teachers and the sources of your knowledge and skill during each class.
- Be welcoming to all students, regardless of gender, race, religion, creed, nationality, cultural background, or sexual preference.
- Always give the student the benefit of the doubt.
- Practice the Four Gates of Speech:
- Is it truthful?
- Is it necessary to say?
- Is it the appropriate time?
- Can it be said in a kind way?
- Be modest when demonstrating or describing your talents and experiences.
- Truthfully and accurately represent your teaching experience and training in all self-promotions.
- Take the responsibility for creating and sustaining both a sacred and safe environment for all students.
