Cheryl Andres

RN, RYT500

  • Associate Body Balance Yoga® Teacher
  • Certified Relax and Renew® Trainer with Judith Hanson Lasater
  • Certified Childbirth Educator

Cheryl’s journey with yoga started in 1975, after a friend invited her to take a yoga class. She soon fell in love with this ancient practice. In 1982, Cheryl graduated as an RN and worked as a labor and delivery nurse for eighteen years. Her love of working with expectant parents guided her to become a certified childbirth educator. She has been empowering women and their birth partners for over 30 years. Cheryl became a nationally certified yoga teacher in 2000. She pursued additional training and certification in pre- and post-natal yoga, as well as children’s yoga. In 2002, she opened her own studio, called Family Yoga, which operated successfully for 8 years. This is where Cheryl had an opportunity to serve the community through teaching yoga to a varied population. She taught prenatal, mom & baby, children and beginner to intermediate level classes and yoga for seniors. Cheryl’s continued studies included additional teacher training with Rodney Yee, Judith Hanson Lasater, Doug Swenson and Jenny Otto. She also attended workshop trainings with Angela Farmer, Victor van Kooten and Doug Keller to name a few. In 2004, Cheryl met master teacher, Jenny Otto, who introduced her to therapeutic yoga. This meeting was a turning point for learning how to work with students using non-traditional forms of yoga as therapy. Cheryl completed Body Balance Yoga Therapy Training with Jenny Otto in 2005. Continued studies with Jenny Otto prove to be integral to Cheryl’s teaching, informing her with the skills needed to work with all student populations. In 2007, Cheryl completed training with Judith Hanson Lasater to become a certified Relax and Renew® Trainer and has acted as her assistant for subsequent teacher trainings. Cheryl looks forward to educating her students so that they will live better in their bodies through the practice of yoga.

Tom Andres yoga teacher

Tom Andres

RYT500

  • Associate Body Balance Yoga® Teacher

Tom first started practicing yoga in 1999 and began his yoga training in 2002. He attended yoga conferences with his wife Cheryl where his appreciation for the benefits of yoga blossomed. Tom had always participated in sports and quickly found the practice of yoga improved his body’s ability to perform. In 2003, he completed Doug Swenson’s teacher training program and started teaching in 2004. Tom met Jenny Otto while attending a yoga retreat in Italy in 2004 and completed therapeutic yoga teacher training with her in July 2005. Tom found that therapeutic yoga provided the tie between the practice of yoga and what was happening in the student’s body. Therapeutic yoga has been a major influence in Tom’s teaching providing relief and guidance to the student by addressing their physical needs. Tom has attended multiple workshops with Doug Keller, Judith Hanson Lasater, Angela Farmer and Victor van Kooten. His wish is to help guide others to be able to experience the focus, peace and relaxation he has found through the practice and teaching of yoga.
